| Introduction |
| The department aspires to develop quality research in the fundamental and applied areas of physics. The current focus of the department is to carry out research in the most challenging and interdisciplinary areas of physics in line with the demands of the 21st century. The research of the department will be primarily focused in the following fields:• Condensed Matter Physics/ Material Science
• Nuclear Physics
• Particle Physics

| Eligibility |
| A candidate with masters degree in physics from any UGC recognized university with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). Candidates with NET/SET/GATE are preferred. |
