Introduction |
| The M.Sc. Physics course content is designed in such a way that a student develops understanding of the subject as well as achieves the necessary theoretical and practical skills at basic and advanced level through core and specialized courses. More importantly, to instill the interdisciplinary spirit in students the open elective courses are offered. The course content is in tune with the syllabus of the different national and state level competitive exams. In the first two semesters emphasis is laid on core and discipline centric courses. Specialization is offered in the third semester to learn the advanced physics. In the fourth semester a core course on Nano-Technology is offered to inspire the students to pursue research in this promising field. In order to expose the students to the nitty-gritty of research a major project and a course on research methodology is offered in the fourth semester. The students are encouraged to carry out the project work during vacations at different institutes and industries in the country in collaboration with the competent and experienced human resource available there. As a part of the curriculum promising students will be sent to attend the Summer/Winter schools at different institutes of the country to develop research acumen in them.

| A candidate having secured a minimum of 45% marks in any of the following:
· B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics as core subjects at the undergraduate level.
· B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics.
· B.E / B. Tech. (With Physics and Mathematics as subjects for at least two semesters / one year). |

| M.Sc. Physics is embedded with courses which can fetch a student career in research, academics and even in industry. Along with core courses, both theoretical and practical, student in M.Sc. physics learns courses like computer programming (FORTRAN, C, C++) which can fetch him/her a good job in IT sector also. Moreover M. Sc Physics students are eligible for the post of Scientific officer/ Scientist C in premier organizations like BARC, DRDO and ISRO etc. |
