The Department of Physics set up in 2015 envisions being a center of excellence in higher education and research. The way of imparting education is such as to prepare the dynamic graduating students ready to compete and contribute in the today’s ever-changing, technology driven world through their skills, both applied and theoretical. We offer master’s programme with a curriculum designed to provide the basic and in-depth knowledge of the subject relevant to current Educational and Research scenario along with the job market demands. The thrust is on the basic as well as applied physics through the introduction of core and the elective courses. In order to enthuse students for interdisciplinary research the course like Physics of Nanomaterials have been introduced into the curriculum. We believe in creating an environment of highest learning where faculty works with students one-on-one to meet out their requirements and groom their intellect. At the same time students are being given every kind of freedom to satisfy their curiosity. The motivated students are encouraged to visit institutes of eminence in the country to take up a project work for a brief period of time. Our young and dynamic faculties are always keen to explore new concepts and challenges pertaining to both the theoretical and experimental physics in order to make vital contributions to solving the mysteries of nature. Numerous research projects grant have been sanctioned to the faculty of the Department by various funding agencies like UGC and DST-SERB. The PhD programme is being started from this year in the fields of Nuclear, Particle and Condensed Matter Physics.
