To emerge as the Centre of Excellence in the region by attracting scholars across the world to study and contribute to the studies and research on spirituality in different religious traditions and to promote better understanding and response to spiritual crises of the postmodern man by encouraging peace and interfaith dialogue through spiritual paradigm. In this regard, the Centre envisions creating a model whereby moral and spiritual values would be accommodated in the curriculum for promoting an integral concept of education to be offered by the University to the students.

The Centre is conceptualized and established to encourage studies and research on various aspects of comparative spirituality and to provide a spiritual response to the growing ideological conflicts and cultural and intellectual challenges of the world. ICSS is an academic and research-oriented Centre with a mandate of working on such issues that have largely marginalized the spiritual development of the present-day human being. Besides, engaging with diverse spiritual traditions of the world along with a focus on such traditions that have been enriching the spiritual heritage of Kashmir, the Centre aims at exploring issues in comparative religion and mysticism.
