The department of English Language & Literature admitted the first batch of postgraduate students in the year 2008. The department is one of the prominent departments of the School of Humanities & Social Sciences and endeavours to provide students an intellectually stimulating milieu. The course curriculum is designed to prepare students for competitive examinations while also instilling in them a love for literature. Driven by the spirit to excel the department keeps abreast with current literary trends across the globe. The curriculum is revised at regular intervals and the syllabi is tailored according to the UGC recommended Choice Based Credit System. The CBCS offers a range of interdisciplinary courses to the students. To ensure that our department remains at the cutting-edge of academic achievements the department has been organising seminars and workshops invariably at the national level. With the change of mode in teaching-learning process due to Covid-19, we recently organised an Online International Workshop on Research Methodology in Arts and Literatures. The most exhilarating and rewarding result of our commitment and perseverance is that a good number of our students have qualified NET/JRF, SET and GATE examinations while some have won admission in prestigious universities like Jamia Milia Islamia, Christ University and several Central Universities for higher studies. Our students have also been placed in the School Education Department, Higher Education Department and Universities. This is not without the efforts of our experienced and well qualified faculty. The department also invites eminent scholars from the field of Literature and other disciplines to enlighten the students with their knowledge and expertise.
