Since its inception the department endeavors to inculcate the skills relevant to current educational and research prospects. To meet this objective, in the last two year’s department had developed 02 PG Laboratories, 01 R&D Laboratory, and 01 B-Tech Laboratory. The laboratories are equipped with sophisticated instruments like FTIR, HPLC, UV-Vis, and Fluorescence Spectrophotometer, Brookfield Viscometer, Centrifuge, Freeze dryer, Steam distillation units (for essential oil extraction) along with other instruments of routine use like pH-meters, conductivity-meters, potentiometers, etc to provide hands-on experience to the students so that they will find themselves suitable for both academia and industries were developed in last two years. Further, our focus is to develop the entrepreneurship skills in students, recently we have launched a perfume (SEHAR), two new startups have been submitted to EDC cell for financial support related to soup manufacturing and natural dye extraction and package. In 2018 department started the Ph.D. program to develop quality research in the fundamental and applied areas of Chemistry. The current focus of the department is to carry out to carry out research in the most challenging and interdisciplinary areas of chemistry in line with the demands of the 21st century. The future endeavor of the department is to carry out research on the following themes for a better future: Molecularly Imprinting Polymers for Treatment of Waste Water, Materials (Hydrogels) for Drug delivery, Conducting Polymers for Use in Fuel Cells, Computational Material Science for Energy and Catalytic applications, Zeolites/ Ion Exchange/ Catalysis/Ion Selective Electrodes, Extraction of valuable phytochemicals from natural flora, Amphiphile-biomolecule interactions, Materials Chemistry
