About us

Universities around the globe are increasingly adapting to the dynamic and evolving field of International Relations, recognizing the growing interconnectedness and the blurring of boundaries between global and local issues. In this context, the Centre for International Relations (CIR) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology offers graduate and postgraduate programs designed to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of global affairs. By incorporating diverse perspectives, the CIR equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate and contribute to an increasingly complex and interdependent world. The Centre offers a wide range of academic programmes, including a Four-Year Undergraduate Program (FYUGP) in Political Science, two separate Master’s programs in International Relations and Political Science, and a PhD program. These programs are meticulously designed to provide students with a robust theoretical foundation and practical insights into the complexities of global politics. A defining characteristic of CIR is its emphasis on Global South perspectives, which aims to decolonize the field of International Relations scholarship and promote a more inclusive, non-Western understanding of global political dynamics. The Centre actively engages with Indian traditions of political thought, international relations, and strategic culture, integrating indigenous knowledge with contemporary global debates. By critically analysing India’s evolving role in world politics, its diplomatic heritage, and strategic practices, CIR enriches the discourse on power, security, and governance with a uniquely national lens. Through an interdisciplinary approach and encouraging critical inquiry, the Centre aspires to cultivate a new generation of scholars and practitioners who are adept at addressing global issues through a nuanced, contextually informed, and nationally relevant perspective. In doing so, CIR positions itself as a hub for innovative thinking and transformative scholarship in the fields of Political Science, International Relations and Conflict Resolution.
