The Government Polytechnic College Pulwama has been established in the IUST in the year 2012. Initially it was started in the main campus with following branches.
1. Three Years Diploma in Civil Engineering.
2. Three Years Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
3. Three Years Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
These Courses have been approved by AICTE. Intake capacity in each branch is 60. Since 2012 seven batches have completed their diploma programmes up to 2021.
The Institution has been shifted to the new campus and has a unique advantage of getting the facility of Infrastructure in terms of Physical and Human resources from the University which is helping in producing the quality human resources out of the Institution.
Who Can Apply?
Candidates applying for admission to Three Year Diploma programmes must fulfill the following eligibility conditions:
1. Have passed Secondary School Examination (Matric or Equivalent examination) from a recognized Board / University with Science and Mathematics subjects.
2. Have obtained 35% marks in 10th class
DURATION OF DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES: 03 years (06 Semesters)
LATERAL ENTRY DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES:
The University has a provision for lateral admission of eligible candidates in the third semester of three year diploma programme in the following branches:
 Civil Engineering
 Mechanical Engineering
 Electrical Engineering
DURATION OF LATERAL ENTRY DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES: 02 years (04 Semesters)
Who Can Apply?
 Matric with two years Draftsmanship course in appropriate/relevant branch from a Govt./Govt. Recognized Institute.
OR
 Matric with two years diploma in relevant / appropriate trade/branch from a Govt./Govt. recognized Industrial Training Institute (ITI).
OR
 12th Pass with Physics, Chemistry, Math or Biology.
