Nursing is a profession within the health care sector focused on the care of individual, families and communities at large, so they may attain, maintain or recover optimal health & quality of life. Nursing encompasses autonomous and collaborate care of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well in all setting of health care system. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness and care of sick, disabled and dying people. Nursing addresses holistic human response to varied levels in a variety of setting & is concerned with prevention of diseases, health promotion, care of sick and rehabilitation. Health is a dynamic state influenced by heredity, environment and individual’s life style. The state of health is reflected within an individual’s physical, psychological, spiritual, development and socio-cultural dimension. Individuals,family & communities differ is how health is perceived & valued. The pursuit of health is the right & responsibility of each individual. Professional nursing education is based on an integrated study of natural sciences, health science, social science & humanities, to promote critical thinking & caring skills for individual, families & communities at large. At AMCN&MT, IUST. The teaching learning is in democratic, participative type, where the nursing faculty, acts as role model, mentors and guides in a democratic environment in which the students are free to explore and develop required knowledge, attitude and skills, to develop personally, professionally and intellectually. The college provides them a balanced platform, to learn the prescribed knowledge, to gain understanding and to learn the skills as required for quality professional care of clients in different setting. At present we have only undergraduate, B.Sc. Nursing, programme, where they conduct group research projects to learn about nursing research process. The college faculty are planning to start post graduate (M.Sc.) Nursing in the next academics session, which will further enhance the nursing research awareness of our students The college will implement B.Sc. Nursing new syllabus which includes semester system, modular learning, and credit system and is more skill based. So our graduate will be good nursing practitioners, who can provide quality professional nursing care to clients. Nurse educators or nursing faculty provides ongoing mentorship and serve as examples to nursing students through various stages of hand on learning. Nursing faculty important for development of students in all three domains, knowledge, attitude and psychomotor, teaching- learning of co-ordination of head, heart and hands. Nursing educators or nursing faculty should be well-educated, knowledge, process strong clinical experience and excellent communication skills. They bring foundational experiences & knowledge in both, art and science of nursing profession. They need to know nursing research as well as knowledge of education theories, testing and evaluation methods of these theories. Importance of faculty in nursing education is facilitate teaching-learning, to assist students to develop as a professional nurses. Use known strategies to assess & evaluate stuidents learning in the classroom, clinical; areas and laboratory settings. Design curricular and formulate program outcomes. Responsibilities of nursing faculty is to design and continuously improve and adopt curriculum, depending on education needs. Teach courses and provide training to license & unlicensed nurses, develop course plan & lesson plans develop annual plans of academic session, clinical rotation and master rotation plan. In corporate evidence- based research into educational plan, patient treatment plans and nursing practices. Overall importance of nursing faculty for development of professional nurses, by providing systematics, teaching-learning activities as prescribed by the statutory body like Indian Nursing Council, in theory, practicals and extra-curricular activities , to be able to provide quality and standard nursing care to the citizens of the country
